Giving Back

I believe God created the world with more than enough resources to go around and have always given to those less fortunate, beginning when I was living in Zambia where life was, and still is, such a huge challenge for so many people. In my home town I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been personally affected by the terrible spread of AIDS – I have 20 cousins who have been orphaned and some whom I currently support.

Coming from a large family and having a young son, children’s charities are particularly close to my heart and I have been involved for a number of years in World Vision’s ‘sponsor a child’ and the NSPCC. It has also long been a dream of mine to open a centre for disadvantaged women, where they can go to get the support and encouragement they need to move their lives forward and be the best they can be. Together with my local church, I am going to be leading projects for women in my home town of Swindon, as well as the ongoing projects I have allied with in Toxteth.

I’m so pleased that through the Secret Millionaire I have been able to focus on women and children, and I am delighted that the Platinum Partners Group is supporting me with these two projects. It’s very important to me that I surround myself with people who share similar values. I believe it is important to be able to share not only our material wealth, but also our combined skills, expertise, ideas and time.

The Platinum Partners Group donates a minimum of 10% of its profits to charitable causes and currently supports orphanages in Uganda and India, as well as the community projects in Toxteth. The team – including me – also regularly take part in charity events.

You don’t have to be financially wealthy to give back and make a difference to others’ lives – it’s enough that you give of yourself – but I feel blessed to be in the position to be able to give money as well, and I look forward to inspiring others to follow in my footsteps.
